
Ohio State assistant coach Mike Vrabel had to prove he could recruit before he was retained on the Buckeyes staff, coach Urban Meyer said on his signing day radio show on 97.1 FM in Columbus.
Meyer, who lists being able to recruit as one of the biggest things he looks for in a coach, said he wanted proof of Vrabel’s ability to do that because he had no previous experience in recruiting. So he gave him a 3-week trial. Evidently, he was impressive.
