BuckEyes ~ Jim Naveau's take on Ohio State and other sports stories

Tressel anniversary brings new perspective but not to all

Looking forward to a quieter Memorial Day at work today than last year when Ohio State picked the holiday as the day to oust football coach Jim Tressel.

Who could have guessed a year ago how well it would have turned out for OSU that it was able to replace a coach who had won one national championship with a guy who has won two, including a 41-14 pantsing of Tressel in the 2006 season’s title game?

By hiring Urban Meyer, OSU has quieted the dissession among the great middle of Buckeyes fans.

But a year after Tressel was forced to quit, his defenders are still defending him and his critics are still critical. Expect that to be the same in 2022 or 2032.
