I would be surprised if the indefinite suspensions Ohio State football players Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort got from coach Urban Meyer over the weekend stretch into the regular season.
The two Buckeyes are charged with obstructing official business for running from cops when they allegedly were observed urinating outside a suburban Columbus bar. When it all shakes out, they will probably get a small fine or community service at worst.
That doesn’t seem to be something that would result in missing games, unless Meyer is out to make a statement. Both players have avoided trouble until now and they have been singled out as team leaders by Meyer.
So, if they do see their suspensions stretch into the season it probably would be a case of them being held to a higher standard to send a message that more is expected from team leaders.
